Changing full-time or part-time study
Eligible students may apply to change mode before the end of standard registration. You cannot change mode once in the grace period.
DBA, Prof. Doc and PhD by Published Works are part-time-only routes. The framework also says students in the UK on a Student Visa cannot study part-time. If disability-related needs create a question about mode, involve Disability Inclusion and Visa and International Support: §3.8’s adjustment commitment and §5.1’s restrictions need individual consideration.
Process and effects
Discuss with your DoS; use RD8 through the School RDC. Finance recalculates annual fees; funding/stipend implications must also be agreed. Get your new registration end date confirmed.
The framework’s conversion is three full-time months = five part-time months, not a doubling/halving rule. It illustrates 24 full-time months as 40 part-time-equivalent months. Its second example rounds 7.2 full-time-equivalent months to seven; do not use it as a universal rounding rule or end-date calculator.
The underlying standard duration can vary with your offer/funder. Ask the School/Operations Team to calculate your remaining time using your record, approved breaks and applicable duration.
