Completing corrections
Student dashboard / Examination and completion
Work from the formal outcome letter and the single agreed set of examiner feedback. Submit through the Operations Team, not to examiners directly.
Understand the feedback
- Required amendments: implement them or provide an explicit, fully justified rebuttal after discussing it with supervisors. Examiners may reject the rebuttal and require the change again with reasons.
- Recommendations: consider them to improve the thesis; you cannot be referred again solely for not following optional recommendations.
- Typographical/format errors: correct them.
For unclear requirements, discuss with supervisors first, then ask the Exam Panel Chair for clarification. A one-off clarification meeting can be requested through the EPC; both examiners must attend and the EPC chairs. Neither you nor supervisors should contact examiners directly about ongoing examination.
Submission checklist
- Identify the deadline in the formal letter; normal maxima are six months for minor/major conditional pass and twelve for Fail Resubmit, regardless of mode.
- Have supervisors review the changes before submission.
- Prepare the revised thesis PDF.
- Prepare a separate response explaining how and where each requirement was addressed, with chapter/page references to the revised version.
- Send the required materials to the Operations Team according to the letter.
Supervision and RD6 continue until examiner requirements are met and the Operations Team confirms thesis acceptance. Once submitted for review/re-examination, the thesis cannot be withdrawn for further revision while the process is ongoing.
Waiting for a decision
Both examiners normally review amendments. §7.13 asks for individual reports within four weeks for amendments / six weeks for full resubmission, followed by a joint report coordinated by EPC. Appendices describe one month for amendment judgement. The date you are given for hearing the result is an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline.
A further minor-corrections round may be required, but reassessment opportunities are limited: Examination outcomes. Seek RD18 promptly if circumstances affect your ability to meet the deadline.
