School Research Degrees Leader
The SRDL oversees research degrees in your School and is a key contact for processes, supervision and unresolved concerns.
They chair the School Research Degrees Committee (SRDC), which manages formal reviews and other School-level approvals. They monitor student experience, progression and supervision quality; arrange appropriate supervision and IPC support; and help communicate University decisions.
Their deputy provides cover and supports the student experience. Exact deputy duties are locally agreed; the 2026/27 remit does not assign every deputy an identical fixed training portfolio.
When to approach them
- Supervision changes or an unexpectedly absent supervisor.
- Agreement on adjusted review timing.
- Difficulties raised through your Independent Panel Chair.
- Local resources and training.
- Questions about School approval procedures.
For the current person’s name and administrative routing, ask your School’s research-degrees administrator in Contacts. The wiki avoids maintaining a potentially stale list of individual postholders.
